New Gel Nail Action

Pink = Gossip Girl; Purple= Star Burst
So I did my nails at like midnight last night. Thank goddess for gel polish. I can't believe I ever did stonework with regular polish. For the record, all polish is Gelish save for the black stripes and polka dots, and the silver sparkle stripes.

I couldn't decide what I wanted, so I just stuck to common color. I like the way the Index fingers have the half circle of clear at the bottom. I think if I could do them over, I would switch my ring and middle finger designs, then replace those stripes with dots matching the other nails.

So each coat was done at 2min cure, but the topcoat was done at a 5min cure to be safe. I'm really happy with how secure the stones feel. As always, I love the shiiiiine.

Fashion Photography is Love

I had a photo shoot on Saturday. It's a subject I've been dying to do, but never got around to before: Decora-kei. Luckily, my little sister introduced me to a girl she met named Dolly.  We because Facebook friends and eventually I just asked her. She's not a model, just a college girl into Asian fashion & sub-cultures.

Okay. This is the part where I shut up and show the photos (starting wth my favorite).

I almost went blind to get this shot.

There are 5 more photos so...

Nail Deco... Success?

So I did my nails today and I think I did a pretty decent job. I made some mistakes, but overall I'm happy. I used the Fashion Diva nail art stickers by Boardwalk Nails. For polish I chose to just use one colour: Sexy Silhouette (#223) by China Glaze. It's my favorite pink.

Anyway, I have a bunch of rhinestones but couldn't find my tweezers. I managed to do the stickers without much trouble, but those tiny stones require tweezers! Used Sally Hansen Diamond Strength No-Chip nail polish in Clear as a top coat. We'll see if this nail set holds up at least until my birthday, at which time I will get a full set [of fake nails] done. It shall be EPIC.

Stuffy Stuff Stuff

'Ello mates!

I'm in a giddy mood right now. Woo hoo. Here's why:

  • I got 2 blog awards.
  • My baby bear has mastered the color yellow and is learning green (even though everyone else in his class is learning red, I choose to be happy and am not surprised he's dancing to the shake of his own maracas).
  • ZOMBIE PROM is this Saturday and my girl Krysi is one of the MUAs again. I can't wait to go!
  • I found tons of cute sewing projects that I can make use of all my fabric scraps.
  • I have a new deco iPhone case that is dark and kira kira instead of pastel.

Decoden Newb

So I'm a total newb to deco. I'm sure I can do it. I just fear I'll spill an entire container of stones, get pissed off and go for a bottle of Jack and watch TV. I bought a new case for my iPhone to use as my first base. It is simple: hot pink and black zebra print with a hole for the Apple logo to show. When I work on it, I want to leave some of the zebra visible.  I think I will use pink stones over the pink parts to give it texture and maybe place a black and white stone skull in the middle with a bow.

That project aside, I know for certain that I will do some of these deco projects:

Chic Prints for Nails via Sephora by O.P.I.

So I recently picked these up from Sephora and am glad I did. I really thought they were stencils. I've been looking around for stencils lately. Anyway, these were really easy to put on. They're like heat-activated stickers for your nails. You just file off the excess (unless you have super long nails that require usage of the full strip). I Should make it clear that if you have wide fingernails, there will be a little space left uncovered at the sides of your thumb nails. There are 16 in each pack so if you screw up you can peel it off and try a new one. They're easier to get on than take off. I find this to be a good thing, but when I messed up a thumb (bad fit), it was a beast to get it off.

I give these 4 out of 5 stars. I can't blame Sephora or O.P.I. for my man hands, but I can blame them for only having 16 in a pack, 4 of which are anchor designs which happen to also be the widest strips. What if I wanted a plain striped thumb and to put the anchor on my ring finger? They've got to do better.

iPhone Bling

I absolutely MUST HAVE this case. It's so insanely cute. I am trying to stick to my budget, so $80 for a cell phone case is kinda unjustifiable. I'm trying to be a responsible adult here, people. It totally speaks to me though.

It's funny how paying $80 for a hair appointment or clothing so is fine, but not for a cell phone case.

Be that as it may, I'm adding it to my Amazon (Universal) wishlist. This way I (or someone else who loves me -- hint hint, Erik) can buy it later. I have a habit of forgetting websites.

Am I the only one who loves window shopping online? I love adding stuff to my wishlists. It's a great passtime for when I can't really pay attention to anything else. This is usually because I'm paying attention to Xavier and rolling around on the floor or playing trucks with him. It's all kinds of fun, but I'm happy to window shop when I need a little break. What type of things are on your wishlists?
